Ancients and Academics

Back again,

It is now Friday 4 June just to give Nana and Poppa a reference point. Early this morning we got off to another early start but luckily yesterday we had a rest day. I spent the day with Pickles and Alf and watched Alf's favourite show - Alf. I didn 't know he was a film star!

Well first stop was a lovely (?) breakfast at McDonalds.

Stonehenge
Next stop was a lovely green paddock with some big rocks in it. I wanted to explore if there were any burrows but Jay said that there were people buried in some of the hills around about. As we walked around the rocks many people started to come to look at the rocks as well. It seems that some people think rocks are interesting, as well as us Wombats. Nana and Poppa told me that these rocks were put here a long time ago by some ancient people but there is a mystery as to why. Some think it was for a worship area and others a grave yard. Anyway they show me that these people must have been pretty smart to get the rocks here and to stand them up and put rocks on top. Or maybe the legend about Merlin was right and he magicked them here.

Afterwards we went for a lovely drive through the countryside. It was very green, not like back home were everything is dry and brown. We got to a small village with a large name called Bourton-on-the-Water where we had some lunch on the grass by the river. Very relaxing. We had a walk around the village and found a motor museum where Brum lives. Well Nana said we had to go in and see this and I thought that it would be interesting as I could show off to Pickles. It was Brum's birthday and I wanted to eat the birthday cake but Poppa said I was too fat and he would have to leave me in England as I would be excess baggage.

We then drove into Oxford and visited the different Colleges that make up the University there. We saw Exeter College where Uncle Ron worked. While walking through the mall Police cars came from everywhere. They were rushing up an alley and arrested someone, great excitement but one of the locals said this was an every day occurrence.

I tried to buy a degree in burrowing but they didn't offer one.

Well another day done and sore feet so off to sleep.
( We snuck under the blanky Nana bought for Jubilee )

Goodnight
