Pomp and Tradition

Today is a day of pomp and ceremony. Jayson took us into Buckingham Palace again to see the changing of the Gaurd, so after breakfast it was time to squeeze into Poppa's backpack for the train ride into central London.

Once there we sought out the best viewing point and I had to keep reminding Nana and Poppa that I am not very tall so we need to be near the fence. Eventually they took my advice and set up right on the fence.

After a bit of a wait (while I had a nap) the ceremony started. The soldiers looked grand in their uniforms with their big black hats that looked a bit like emus prancing. There was a band that played as the soldiers marched and lots of shouting and stamping of feet. Everyone seemed to know what to do.

As the ceremony finished it started to rain. We headed for the cover of the trees in Hyde Park but then the hail began. Every one was running and the cars, taxis and buses were beeping there horns at us.

We had lunch in Hyde Park once the rain stopped. We were able to get out into the sun and have a nice walk in the park. It was warmish in the sun but cold in the shade and when the wind blew.

The next place we went to was where the war memorials are for Australian and New Zealand. I just wanted to wander in the park and so Nana put me down. As I was sniffing around for a place to dig a small burrow I was startled by a small hedgehog. She was lost and lonely so I suggested she could come with us. Nana seemed to like her too, so Nana  piked her up and chased of the pidgeons who were paying far too much attention to us.

Poppa was wandering around the war memorials so we got to know this new friend. I discovered that her name was prikles and that she didn't have many friends because of her spikes. I thought she was cute.

As we left the park we had a frightening encounter with a Lion

It was then time to go see Poppa's uncle Ron.He is in a military hospital at Chelsea. He had had a hip replacement last week. Poppa and Nana had not  seen Uncle Ron since 1991 or there abouts. He had just moved back to his room as we arrived. He looked very well and was moving around. While Nana, Poppa and Jayson talked I hid in the back pack with Pricles and got to know her better.

Looking forward to tomorrow as we are of to Belgium and i hope to get to taste some great choclate.

Love from Nugget.
