Pomp and Tradition

Today is a day of pomp and ceremony. Jayson took us into Buckingham Palace again to see the changing of the Gaurd, so after breakfast it was time to squeeze into Poppa's backpack for the train ride into central London.

Once there we sought out the best viewing point and I had to keep reminding Nana and Poppa that I am not very tall so we need to be near the fence. Eventually they took my advice and set up right on the fence.

After a bit of a wait (while I had a nap) the ceremony started. The soldiers looked grand in their uniforms with their big black hats that looked a bit like emus prancing. There was a band that played as the soldiers marched and lots of shouting and stamping of feet. Everyone seemed to know what to do.

As the ceremony finished it started to rain. We headed for the cover of the trees in Hyde Park but then the hail began. Every one was running and the cars, taxis and buses were beeping there horns at us.

We had lunch in Hyde Park once the rain stopped. We were able to get out into the sun and have a nice walk in the park. It was warmish in the sun but cold in the shade and when the wind blew.

The next place we went to was where the war memorials are for Australian and New Zealand. I just wanted to wander in the park and so Nana put me down. As I was sniffing around for a place to dig a small burrow I was startled by a small hedgehog. She was lost and lonely so I suggested she could come with us. Nana seemed to like her too, so Nana  piked her up and chased of the pidgeons who were paying far too much attention to us.

Poppa was wandering around the war memorials so we got to know this new friend. I discovered that her name was prikles and that she didn't have many friends because of her spikes. I thought she was cute.

As we left the park we had a frightening encounter with a Lion

It was then time to go see Poppa's uncle Ron.He is in a military hospital at Chelsea. He had had a hip replacement last week. Poppa and Nana had not  seen Uncle Ron since 1991 or there abouts. He had just moved back to his room as we arrived. He looked very well and was moving around. While Nana, Poppa and Jayson talked I hid in the back pack with Pricles and got to know her better.

Looking forward to tomorrow as we are of to Belgium and i hope to get to taste some great choclate.

Love from Nugget.

London Walkabout

Today, all I wanted was a nice burrow to sleep in and to recover from such an enormous trip. Not to be as Jayson decided that it was a good day to have a walk around central London. So we embarked on the train to Victoria station and then we walked towards Buckingham Palace.

Nana kept stopping to take pictures of Buses and Statutes so it took some time to get there. When we eventually gotto the main gate there were some gaurds marching back and forth. I was able to get a glimpse through the fence.

We then went for a walk through St James' Park and had some lunch. I wandered off to have a scratch around and some British grass and found some feathered friends. One of them was getting a bit too inquisative when Poppa snatched me out of danger.

After lunch we walked through the park and came across some police men on motorcycles. One of the officers let me sit on the bike. Poppa spoke to him about the Royal Wedding that he had to work at and he said hi to Lucus. It would be great to have a ride on the motorcycle but that policeman said all his mates would laugh. I dont know why?
Across the park we came to the Household Calvary arch where there was another gaurd on duty.

As we continued through the arch we came to the gate and there was a big crowd. The gaurds at the gate where on horses and we saw the chnging of the gaurd. One of the horses was quite friendly. Then we wandered through some of the streets, past Trafalgar Square, through Picadilly Circus where I was nearly wombat napped at gun point.

With all the walking we all were getting a little tired so we found a cafe at the Central Methodist Hall. There was this statute of a man named Wesley who Poppa said made a great contribution to the church and is one of the heros of Faith.

We also were able to do a bit of shopping before catching a double decker bus back to Jayson's place. I managed to sit up front on the top deck.
A busy day and we are all tired. Time to go to bed.

Lets see what tomorrow brings?

A long day.

Nana and Poppa Darling have embarked on a journey and I needed to go with them as Tiana, my mistress, charged me with lookimg after them.

Well I hid in  Nana's pocket and as they went through the security screening I thought I had got away with it until Nana was yanked out of the queue and was frisked by a terrifying woman in a uniform. As her hand moved towards the pocket I was in I started to get worried. My mission to look after Nana and Poppa was goimg to be over.

I suddenly was struck on the back and was discovered. Nana then came to my defence and I was allowed to continue the journey with them, but not before I was squished searched. oh what shame and embaresment.

We then got on the plane and flew through to Singapore. I was able to cuddle up and snooze most of the 6 hours. In Singapore however I was feeling a bit stiff so Nana took me for a walk. we found a nice place and Nana put me down , suddenly something fluttered in front of me and as I chased after it Nana had to stop me.

Next we got on this huge plane (Poppa said it was an A380 what ever that is?) an were of to London.

I slept the whole 13 hours to London as I was a little tierd after chasing that butterfly.

Next thing I hear is Nana complaining to Poppa that she was stiff and needed a walk. Poppa just grunted. As we got off the plane Nana stuffed me in her pocket again. We met Jayson and was able to stretch a little.

We went to church which was when I started to miss Tiana and as we walked back to Jayson's we passed a letter box but Nana couldn't stuff me into the slot so I will have to continue the adventure.

'til next time
love Nugget.

PS Jayson has this menagarie of friends who I have met. I am a little bit afraid of Alf though.
